Dal paesaggio al giardino
Idea, Design, Realization
Spanning 13 amongst her most famous gardens—Dal paesaggio al giardino, far from an anthology or a simple “best of”, is a deep dive in Anna Scaravella’s design practice.
The gardens collected here span regions as diverse as Lombardy, Emilia, Tuscany, and Lazio. However, the chapters follow all the same format: first, a “reconnaissance” most salient elements of the landscape, then a progressive zooming in that, in different stages, reveals the characteristics of the garden, the thought process behind the design, and finally focuses on a specific element, often the defining feature, of the project.
By adopting this approach which makes the reader privy to the author’s creative process—the book shows that designing a garden hardly consists in applying an abstract formula, but rather is a deep dialogue with the nature and context one operates in.
